Google Places/Google Map are an entirely different animal, it seems.
While nobody ever REALLY knows what Google values, many of us have pretty good ideas. Many of these are derived from a common sense perspective. Essentially, we figure Google to like what us, as readers like.
We like to read at pages that answer the questions we wanted to find. It helps if a lot of other people have had good experiences with this before we ever got there. We like it to be easy to read the material, and we want to be able to find everything we want without having to strain ourselves.
Google (and the other search engines) cover this pretty well.
However, the rules seem to change for Google Places listings (which also go to Google Maps, too).

Marketing: What market do you really want?
Who is your target market?
If you said everyone, I suggest that you look at the most successful businesses. Even they don't have "everyone" as their market.
I am not providing any true insight here, as many people have said this before me (and you can bet that plenty more people will say it after I do, too).
However, the lesson must not be clear enough, because I hear both beginning and established businesses make this mistake often, like nearly all of the time. (I did not say that ALL businesses do this, only that I can find a business guilty of this nearly every day, if I try.)
So...Why is it unwise to target everyone?

Keywords: The Amazing Category
Often I will hear people say that content is king in Google. Google thrives on getting new information. The more it has, the more valuable it becomes.
If content is king, then keywords are the queen of Google (or any other search engine).
